Joseph DeDonato Selected as 2014 New York Metro Super Lawyer

Morgan Melhuish Abrutyn is happy to announce the selection of its partner, Joseph DeDonato, to the 2014 New York Metro Super Lawyers list. Not only was Joe included in the list of 2014 New York Metro Super Lawyers, but he was also included in the New Jersey Super Lawyers list from 2005-2014 and the New York Metro Super Lawyers list in 2006 and 2013.

Super Lawyers is a rating service of lawyers who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.

Kathleen A. Hart Reappointed to District IIA Ethics Committee

MMA commends Kathleen A. Hart on her reappointment by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to the District IIA (Bergen County) Attorney Ethics Committee. The district ethics committees investigate and prosecute ethics cases involving New Jersey attorneys. As a volunteer member of the committee, Kathleen will conduct investigations of grievances docketed by the committee during the 2014 to 2018 term.

MMA Achieves Summary Judgment on Behalf of Insurer Client in Declaratory Judgment Action

Elliott Abrutyn and Thomas G. Rantas won summary judgment for their insurer client, Essex Insurance Company, in the matter of Reeves v. Peak Development Corp. In its written decision, the Trial Court dismissed the claims asserted against Essex because there was no evidence that the parties seeking coverage were named as additional insureds. In addition, the Trial Court found that there was no evidence of apparent authority to bind Essex to the actions of a retail broker that allegedly made representations regarding the provision of additional insured coverage.
